Casino Nova Scotia is excited to announce the hilarious lineup for the 10th Anniversary of the Natal Day Comedy Gala! This star studded event features Canadian sensation Mark Forward and fellow comedians Cathy Jones, Pete Johansson and host Travis Lindsay.
See their performance live in the Schooner Showroom August 2nd, for one night only, as part of this year’s Halifax-Dartmouth Natal Day program.
From his work on the critically acclaimed series Fargo and Letterkenny, Mark Forward will have you rolling on the floor in tears with his comedic genius. A regular at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, Mark is one of our country’s best stand up comedians. He may never even know what will come out of his mouth until the moment he walks to the microphone. He is a true legend at making a room erupt and for the 10th Anniversary of the Natal Day Comedy showcase you couldn’t ask for a better headliner.
For nearly three decades, Cathy Jones has been an audience favourite. After co-founding the award-winning comedy troupe CODCO, she became an original cast member of This Hour Has 22 Minutes; she is the only performer to star in all 26 seasons of the legendary CBC comedy show. Cathy’s accolades precede her reputation, winning the ACTRA Award of Excellence in 2013, as well as an incredible 18 Gemini Awards for her work as a writer and performer. On top of this, Cathy was honoured with the Canadian Screen Icon Award in 2016.
Pete Johansson has earned the title of global headlining comic with a relentless schedule that takes him to every corner of the globe with his unique socially progressive and intellectually challenging, yet accessible comedy that has garnered him a worldwide following. This demand was recently bolstered with his first comedy special ‘You might also enjoy…pete johansson’ released by Netflix simultaneously in 82 countries and a critically acclaimed and powerful appearance on Comedy Central’s ‘This is Not Happening’. A favourite at festivals, Pete is one of only two Canadians ever nominated for an Edinburgh award at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and has appeared in fringe festivals from South Africa to Australia to Singapore.
This incredible night of comedy is all orchestrated by the host of the night, Halifax’s very own, Travis Lindsay. Travis was named 2016 “Best Nova Scotia Comedian” on James Mullinger’s Comedy Boot Camp. He’s a 3 time semi-finalist on Sirius XM’s Top Comic. He made his TV debut this past fall on CBC at the Halifax ComedyFest and in 2019 he releases his debut album titled The Kid is Alright.
Show starts at 8:00pm, August 2nd, 2019. Ages 19+. Tickets: $15.00, HST and service charges apply.
