Halifax, NS – Casino Nova Scotia is excited to celebrate the release of the debut album from Artist in Residence, Port Cities, in the Schooner Showroom April 13th!
While Port Cities get ready for their much-anticipated debut album release, February 10th, their single Back To The Bottom is being added to commercial, campus and community radio stations across the country, including CBC Radio 2 Top 20. The song had its national broadcast premiere January 11th on CBC’s q, and the response has been amazing.
Port Cities will celebrate their release day with the #portcitiespopup campaign. In addition to visiting local radio, they will pop up with shows in Halifax-Dartmouth, including appearances at TAZ Records (1521 Grafton St., Halifax) and a Facebook Live event with Music Nova Scotia and Halifax Pop Explosion (2169 Gottingen St., Halifax).
The band is hitting the road with dates in the Maritimes, cross-Canada dates supporting the phenomenal Rose Cousins on her Natural Conclusion Tour, and a week in Trinidad with Club One New Releases.
Port Cities is made up of Carleton Stone, Breagh Mackinnon, and Dylan Guthro- each of the three songwriters brings distinct strengths to Port Cities, creating heart-wrenching songs reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac and Crosby Stills & Nash. The quality of their music should come as no shock: between them, they’ve recorded six solo albums and have collaborated with the likes of JUNO award-winning duo Classified and David Myles, Hawksley Workman (Tegan and Sara, Serena Ryder), Howie Beck (Feist, Hayden), and acclaimed singer-songwriter/Broken Social Scene alum, Jason Collett. Throughout the entire record and at every show —whether it be in a raw crash of rock n’ roll or a devastating, gentle acoustic number—the strength of Port Cities lies clearly in the riveting force of Stone, Mackinnon, and Guthro's passionate voices.
