SONIC CONCERTS presents Snoop Dogg at the Metro Centre, Sept. 13
(Halifax, NS) – Legendary rapper, producer and actor Snoop Dogg will return to Halifax for a performance in support of his 2008 release Ego Trippin’ with his band Snoopadelics at the Metro Centre on Sunday, September 13 at 8 p.m.
Released in 2008, Ego Trippin’ is Snoop’s ninth solo release and features 21 tracks, including the lead single “Sexual Sensation.” Rolling Stone said, “Along with Terrace Martin, who adds live instruments, they take vintage Eighties sounds — old-school synths, vocoders — and purée them into a hip-hop mix as dense as anything the Bomb Squad ever did.”
Snoop aka Calvin Broadus burst onto the scene in 1992 when he appeared on Dr. Dre’s album The Chronic. He went on to release his debut solo album Doggystyle in 1993 which blew up with the success of the hit single “What’s My Name.” Snoop has gone on to release nine solo albums, multiple collaborations with Tha Eastsidaz and soundtrack contributions, racked up numerous awards and Grammy nominations and has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
In addition to his musical ventures, Snoop has appeared in multiple films and television shows, including Old School, Starsky and Hutch, andTraining Day. He also had his own E! Entertainment show “Snoop Dogg: Fatherhood” and now an MTV show “Dogg After Dark.”He has also designed everything from dolls to pet clothes and the custom Snoop deVille.
MTV will release Snoop’s upcoming new album, Malice in Wonderland, in November with global distribution, marketing and promotion. In addition, songs from Snoop’s impressive catalogue of hits will be released on MTV’s hot-selling Rock Band® music video game platform.
