Simple Plan have announced details of a 2012 Canadian tour in support of their gold-certified album Get Your Heart On!. The band will begin their 10-city tour on February 11 at the Coliseum in Vancouver. Stops include a show at the Bell Center in their hometown of Montreal on February 23 before they wrap things up in Halifax at the Metro Centre on February 26. The Halifax show is presented by evenko and Live Nation.
Opening for Simple Plan will be Marianas Trench, All Time Low and These Kids Wear Crowns. Tickets go on sale for Halifax Friday, September 23 at noon. $1 from every ticket sold on the tour will be donated to the Simple Plan Foundation.
Simple Plan spent the summer touring the globe, including stops in Asia and Europe, as well as the U.S., where they were one of the highest-drawing acts on the Warped Tour. A July date in Quebec attracted nearly 90,000 fans. They will return to the U.S. for a fall tour beginning in October.
Get Your Heart On!, the Montreal-based band’s gold-certified fourth studio album, was released in June and spawned the platinum-certified hit single “Jet Lag” – a duet with Natasha Bedingfield on the English version and Marie-Mai on the French version. The music video for the second single, “Astronaut,” premieres today at MuchMusic, MusiquePlus and SimplePlan.com.
2012 will mark the 10-year anniversary of Simple Plan’s debut album, No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls. The band has been voted Favourite Canadian Band an unprecedented five times by viewers of the MuchMusic Video Awards. Accolades also include the 2006 JUNO Fan Choice Award and the 2005 Teen Choice Award.
