Info
(Halifax, NS) – After playing for fans 2300 feet underground in a German salt mine this past November, critically acclaimed rockers Queens of the Stone Age will make their Maritime debut when they perform in support of their latest release Era Vulgaris at The Cunard Centre (961 Marginal Road) in Halifax on Tuesday, May 13 at 9 p.m.
Era Vulgaris, the fifth release for Queens of the Stone Age, hit the shelves in the summer of 2007 and offers up 11 new songs from singer Josh Homme, guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen and drummer Joey Castillo. The lead single “Sick Sick Sick” includes a guest appearance from The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas while the follow up, “3s and 7s” was featured in the hugely popular video game Guitar Hero III.
Giving the album an impressive four and a half stars, Spin magazine said, “Homme has spent his career turning the normal trappings of hard rock sideways, and here he amps up the swirling psychedelia, notably on the shaky "River in the Road" and the swinging, bipolar "3's & 7's."
Since forming in 1997, the Queens of the Stone Age’s line up has been fleshed out with a variety of musicians including the likes of the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, who helped launch the band into the spotlight, and current touring musicians Michael Shuman on bass and Dean Fertita on guitar and keyboards. The footage of the salt mine performance is due for release later this year.
