Casino Nova Scotia is pleased to present ECMA and Juno Award winner, Jimmy Rankin on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22. Jimmy is on tour this summer to promote the release of his latest album, Edge of Day. Hot off the heels of a successful cross-country tour with his family group, The Rankins, Jimmy is getting ready to go on tour this summer to promote his latest album, Edge of Day. Edge of Day is set for release on May 8. Edge of Day is Jimmy’s third solo album. Some of the songs are autobiographical, while others, although written in the first person, are about a story or something overheard. Many of his songs reflect on what he experiences while on tour and while he’s traveling and reading. He likes to write songs that are based on good stories and of other people’s experiences in the world. Jimmy’s previous solo albums include Song Dog, released in 2001. This was his debut solo album which earned him several ECMA Awards, Juno nominations and CCMA Awards. In the fall of 2003 he released Handmade which earned him a couple more ECMA Awards. Jimmy Rankin is known nationwide as a vocalist, guitar player and principal songwriter for The Rankin’s and writing many of their hit songs.
