The Dutch Mason Blues Festival is pleased to announce festival International Ambassador, world-renowned Blues legend JAMES COTTON will be joined by some of world’s best Blues talent from across the region, Canada and the United States to help celebrate the Festival’s 5th anniversary event.
Get ready for Canada’s guitar wizard COLIN JAMES when the celebration begins on Friday night as he headlines the evening along with, Rock’n’Roll Hoochie Koo man RICK DERRINGER, the fabulous TWISTERS and our very own GARRETT MASON. Saturday afternoon main stage concert presentations will include some crowd favourites from the past like Canada’s Queen of Guitar SUE FOLEY and back from South Texas, guitar slinger TUTU JONES who headlined the Festival in 2006. Local Delta Blues musician CATAHULA BROWN and making their first appearance at the festival, FATHEAD will round off the afternoon.
Saturday evening’s headline concert will feature Mr. Super Harp, JAMES COTTON with special guest Grammy Award winner, JIMMIE VAUGHAN, who started his career by helping out his younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan in the band Double Trouble and who was an original founding member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds. The woman with the big voice, SHEMEKIA COPELAND will also be performing on Saturday night’s lineup and making a return appearance, the crowd pleasing, electrifying, award-winning KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD will end the night on a hot note. Sunday starts with local artists, THE HUPMAN BROTHERS, and continues with THE FRIENDS OF RICK JEFFERY BLUES REVUE, MATT MINGLEWOOD, DOCTOR HOOK, and will close with the DOWNCHILD BLUES BAND 40th Anniversary Tour, making this one of the best Sunday lineups in the history of the festival, and a day not to be missed!
The 2009 Dutch Mason Blues Festival, August 7-8-9, in Bible Hill, Truro, will once again offer 3 days of blues, bikes and barbecue with international as well as local Blues Artists, including Atlantic Canada’s Motorcycle Lifestyle Show, The Maritime BBQ Competitions, Late-Nite Jam Sessions, Acoustic Showcases, Blues & Pancakes in The Park and the popular Blues Ambassadors Dinner featured in the festival weekend. On-site festival camping for tents and trailers is available.
