Bonnie Raitt to headline 2008 Dutch Mason Blues Festival
International superstar, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer BONNIE RAITT is coming to Nova Scotia to perform Saturday night, August 9th at the 4th Annual Dutch Mason Blues Festival. The redheaded blueswoman's soulful, unaffected way of singing, and her uncanny insights into blues guitar have made her more than just a best-selling artist, respected guitarist, expressive singer and accomplished songwriter. Bonnie Raitt has become an institution in American music. "Thing Called Love," "Nick Of Time," "Love Letter," "Have A Heart," "Something To Talk About," "I Can't Make You Love Me," "Not the Only One" and "Love Sneakin' Up On You" are just a few of the singles attributed to the nine-time Grammy award-winner and social activist.
James Cotton named International Festival Ambassador
The Dutch Mason Blues Festival is please to announce that world-renowned Blues legend JAMES COTTON has agreed to be the festivals International Ambassador,’’It’s an honor to be asked, and to accept’’. James Cotton will be featured in international marketing campaigns and will make special promotional appearances on behalf of the festival. Cotton will be performing on Saturday night’s concert line up with special guest and friend, guitar legend HUBERT SUMLIN. When Hubert Sumlin plays guitar he takes you to his World of Blues Feeling - from despair to ecstasy, from delicate grace to raw power, from lost to found. Though he’s influenced and inspired many of the most famous guitar players, Hubert owns the magic. His style is original and personal and instantly recognizable. He was voted #65 on Rolling Stones list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists in the History of Rock and Roll. Hubert Sumlin and his band will be headlining Sunday’s tribute to Dutch Mason. Also included in Saturday nights concert line up is Multiple Blues Music Award winner, Canadian guitarist DAVID GOGO and Nova Scotia’s Juno award winning bluesman GARRETT MASON.
