(Halifax, NS) – After a massive show in Halifax last year, Irish super group Celtic Thunder return to the east coast in support of their latest CD and DVD Heritage at the Metro Centre in Halifax on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Approaching sales of one million units combined, Celtic Thunder pay homage to the musical culture of Ireland with Heritage. The concert special was broadcast across the U.S. on PBS in March with over 1,000 airings.
Produced by Sharon Browne and longtime collaborator Phil Coulter, Heritage features performances by fan-favorites - each with their own unique stage personas – Keith Harkin, Paul Byrom, Ryan Kelly, George Donaldson and newest member Emmet Cahill, who takes over for Byrom on future tours and recordings.
Delivering stirring and show-stopping performances in the tradition of their previous releases (Celtic Thunder: The Show, Act Two, Take Me Home, It’s Entertainment and most recently, Christmas), Celtic Thunder now return to their distinct Irish roots with this inspired collection of songs, including the sweet and tranquil "Kindred Spirits", the rousing jig, "A Place In The Choir", the seductive “Black Is The Color,” and the upbeat "Whiskey In The Jar," to name a few.
Since the airing of their first PBS special in 2008, Celtic Thunder consistently remains one of the most popular musical acts for the network and their official YouTube channel, “Thunder Tube” has received over 15 million upload views. The group had the distinct honor of performing for President Obama at The White House and opened New York City’s famed St. Patrick’s Day Parade on 5th Avenue in 2008 and 2009.
