Halifax – Casino Nova Scotia is excited for season three of the ever popular Songwriters’ Circle, hosted by Bruce Guthro, return March 20th. The ladies are taking over with artists Suzie McNeil, Damhnait Doyle and Meaghan Smith!
The popular series features local and national artists getting together to share with each other and the audience the stories and inspirations behind their lyrics and music. The sharing of songs, music and stories creates a fun and intimate atmosphere for the host, the performers and the audience.
Bruce Guthro is renown around the world for his honest, genuine songwriting and engaging performances. His music tells a story which touches the hearts of his audiences - it’s this ability to connect with people that makes Guthro so successful.
At the end of summer 2005, Suzie McNeil was the last woman standing on CBS television’s reality series Rockstar: INXS. At the end of July, 2006, Suzie finished singing back up vocals for Pink on her North American tour and she is featured singing duets on the INXS’ 2005 release “Switch”. During the first half of 2007, Suzie starred in the Toronto debut of Queen’s mucical “We Will Rock You” and in the spring released her debut CD, “Broken and Beautiful” featuring hit singles “Believe” and “Hung Up”.
Damhnait Doyle’s high energy style and low-fi approach are perfectly blended in her live shows as she takes command of the house with humor, honesty and powerhouse performances. She has developed naturally on-stage and on-camera, owning the stage and capturing audiences. Damhnait has recently release her newest full length solo project “Lights Down Low”. Doyle is also a member of the Atlantic region super duo Shaye with Kim Stockwood.
Meaghan Smith's first official full-length album, Take Me Dancing, is on its way out the door and straight into your CD player. Complete with string quartets, mellotron samples, a full piece horn section, a guest appearance made by the fabulously musical DJ Kid Koala, and topped with Meaghan's smooth, soaring vocals, this new album is sure to make you want to dance up a storm or have a quiet night in with your sweetheart.
